HABANERO
It is probably the most popular type of extremely hot peppers worldwide. The name comes from the Spanish name of Havana. The thin-walled fruits are 4-6 cm long and resemble ,,lanterns´´. Their heat levels vary among the various varieties, but all are very hot and range from 200,000 to 700,000 SHU. They mature late, so in colder regions (Central Europe and similar) are only suitable for they greenhouse or hoophouse. In warmer regions they can also be successfully grown in open field, with the first harvest in the end of summer.
